As a child I used to love getting Peeps in my Easter basket. Although once I got older they became much to sweet and I couldn’t eat them any more! But then I found these cute peep cookie cutters and I decided that I needed to make Peep Sugar Cookies. They turned out looking amazing and tasting even better! These are the best cookies to let your kids help out in the kitchen! Let them decorate them in whatever color they want.

You’ll needĀ Wilton’s 2 count Peep Cookie Cutter to create these amazing cookies.

After cooking the cookies make the icing and start decorating your cookies. You can use any colors you wish but our little girl loves Pink and since her birthday was the weekend before Easter I did these for her in Pink! I would have done purple as well if I could have found purple dusting sugar.

Let’s Decorate Those Peep Sugar Cookies

These incredibly cute Peep sugar cookies are sure to be a hit at your Easter party or just around at the house for the family. They would also be adorable for a girl’s birthday party or even a baby shower!

Outline your sugar cookie in icing. It will make filling in the cookie much easier.

Fill in your cookie with your icing! Try not to lick your fingers or the bowl! šŸ™‚

Dust your Peep sugar cookie with the Dusting sugar. Make sure do it on parchment paper or something else so you can recycle leftover dusting sugar to use on other cookies!


Peep Sugar Cookies



  1. Cookie Directions:
  2. - Cream the soft butter with the sugar until the combination is smooth not grainy to the touch in a mixing bowl. I love to use my KitchenAid Stand Mixer
  3. -Add all 2 eggs at one time...Continue to mix.
  4. -Add the vanilla. Continue mixing.
  5. -Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  6. -Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture.
  7. -Continue mixing to make sure all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
  8. -Make the dough into a ball, wrap it in cling wrap completely covering the entire dough ball.
  9. -Put in the refrigerator for about 6 hours or overnight. Check to see if the dough is firm.
  10. -Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  11. -Pull the cookie dough out of the refrigerator and set it out to soften up a bit.
  12. - Put flour out on the cutting board, rub flour on the rolling pin, and (if needed) work some flour into the batter.
  13. -Roll the dough out on the cutting board and using the cookie cutter begin to make your cookies.
  14. -Line the cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  15. -Using a metal spatula move the cut cookies to the parchment lined cookie sheet.
  16. -Bake at 325 degrees for 8 minutes. Check to see if the cookies are thoroughly baked.
  17. -Take the cookies off of the cookie sheet and put on a wire rack to cool completely.
  18. (About 10 minutes).
  19. Icing Directions:
  20. -Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl mixing on medium speed for 4 minutes. (except your food coloring)
  21. -If icing is not stiff enough add 1/4 C powder sugar. When this sugar is added stir to mix well.
  22. -Take out several tablespoons of the icing into one bowl.
  23. -Put the remaining icing into the other bowl.
  24. -Add several drops of black gel food coloring to the first bowl of icing. Stir well to mix the color.
  25. -To the second bowl of icing add several drops of pink food coloring mixing well to make sure the color is blended throughout the entire bowl of icing.
  26. -Spoon each color of icing into individual frosting bags with a #2 tips. Twist the open end of the bag to push the icing to the tip.
  27. -Set the black icing aside.
  28. -Outline each of the cookies with the purple icing.
  29. -Allow this to dry for 30 seconds before filling in the body with the* thinner pink icing.
  30. -* Squeeze the majority of the purple icing into a bowl then add 1 tsp of water, stir to mix,
  31. -Using a butter knife spread the icing all over the cookie. Allow to dry for 1 minute.
  32. -Gently shake the pink sanding sugar all over the cookies.
  33. -Allow the cookies to set for about 5 minutes then shake the excess off of the cookies.
  34. -Using the frosting bag filled with the black icing make each dot for the two eyes and one for the nose.
  35. -Set aside the cookies to allow to completely dry... about 1-2 hours.
