I’ve been using and educating myself on Essential Oils for approximately about a year now. While I don’t know everything (and won’t for a while) I am continuing my education. It seems lately whenever I was doing research about a certain oil or combination of oils, herbs popped up as well. My growing interest in natural remedies has piqued a new interest in Herbal Education or Herbalism. Herbal Education | Herbalism| Education | Natural Living | Natural Remedies

To say I am completely new to how herbs work would not be quite accurate. See a little before I found essential oils I found a shop on Etsy selling Elderberry Tincture. Elderberries do amazing things for our bodies. They have good amounts of Vitamins E and C in addition to flavonoids. This Elderberry Tincture I came across has done amazing things for our family. This really sparked my interest. However, my initial interest in herbs has never decreased but continued to grow until I found Growing Up Herbal.

Now thanks to Meagan at Growing Up Herbal I have fallen in love with The Herbal Academy and expanding my herbal education.  I have been anxiously awaiting to sign up for one of their many courses. Mr. Viking and I have been discussing me enrolling. However we had to save the money. I am so excited because I finally did it!

Currently the Herbal Academy offers 4 online courses. It also has the Herbarium which is an online collection of resources. No matter where you are at in your herbal studies, the Herbal Academy has a training program for you!

Herbal Education Programs

The Introductory Herbal Course is a good place to start if you are new to herbal medicine. It’s a beginner’s course filled with easy training guides, recipes, downloadable flipping books to get you well on your way to becoming a herbalist. The course begins with the basics of medicine making and wildcrafting. Then moves on to anatomy and introduces you to many plants. It also covers common discomforts for adults and children, and discusses the overarching holistic approach of herbalism.

The Intermediate Herbal Course begins with an introductory unit as a review, and then quickly advances into more complex topics. The program dives in deeper, working through each body system and discussing the herbs; their actions and energetics; their safety and side effects; in-depth coverage of anatomy and physiology; and guidance for herbal formulation.

The Entrepreneur Herbal Course is geared towards herbalists who have already studied at the beginner and intermediate levels, who want to make and sell their own herbal products. Some of the many lessons that are included in this fast track program are lessons on sourcing herbs, good manufacturing practices, labeling requirements, writing a business plan and creating a brand.

The Advanced Herbal Course is an in-depth program geared towards students interested in becoming clinical herbalists. This program picks up on the body systems not fully covered in the Intermediate Course, and covers more complex topics including herbal wisdom traditions, health and wellness of men, women, and elderly, assessment and herbal therapeutics, and steps to becoming a clinical herbalist; as well as regulatory and legal obstacles facing professional herbalists and herbal products businesses.

Final Thoughts

Seeing as I am just starting my Herbal Education I signed up for the Introductory Herbal Course. It is a self-study program however I have full access to the HANE’s team. In the introductory herbal course I will learn why herbs are important and even more importantly how to use them. I’ll be learning how to make tinctures, teas and more! There are 6 units that I have to work through! I’m barely into the first unit and I absolutely love it!

Tomorrow is National Herbalist Day! In honor of that The Herbal Academy is offering 15% off all their online Herbalism Courses. That is an incredible deal that I couldn’t pass up! If you want more information about all their different course hop on over to The Herbal Academy’s site. It is full of valuable information. Their blog is incredible!
