Updated Goals

Well I know I am a little late with this post seeing as it is now August! Oh well! Life gets the most of us sometimes! It is time to check in to see how our goals are progressing and how close we are to accomplishing our goals.

Some of these goals are more on personal level so they are harder to just say we have completed them but we do have markers in place to make sure we are achieving them in some way.

For 2016 our buzzword was FOCUS. For 2016 we have Focused on ourselves, our family, friends, our dreams, our reality, our finances and so much more. Focusing on our dreams and our reality will help us accomplish our goals. Focusing on the details and planning on how we will accomplish our goals will continue to inspire us. We will focus on creating a simplified but enriched life.

Main Goal: To focus on creating a beautiful, fulfilling life by maintaining simplicity and growing as individuals as well as a family. We have been doing this really well and hopefully we can continue focus on ourselves and our kids.

Family Goal: To have more time as a family. Explore the outdoors more with the kids. Take the kids hiking more. Limit technology
We have definitely been doing this as we are working to complete the 10 Tops in Alta before October. You can view my posts on Environment Week, and Hiking to Lille Raipas

Home Goal: To continue our much simpler life. When we moved from the US to Norway we downsized considerably. Now we are living in 800 square feet with only the basic. As we continue to grow and acquire belongings we must continue to only keep what we love and what inspires us.
We did this for the most of the year however we have recently decided to move in with my in-laws to save money (post coming soon).  While we still don’t have a lot of stuff that is ours we are now living in a much larger house with much more stuff.

Health Goal: For me I want to lose a minimum of 10 lbs during the year. As a family we want to eat healthier, cut out processed food and eat home more often.
We are definitely eating at home a lot and cutting out a lot of processed food. I haven’t lost as much weight as I was hoping but I still have time.

Financial Goal: To focus on paying our debt down and starting to build our savings up.
We have been doing decent on this front. We got one loan paid off so now its time to focus on the next one. The goal is by the end of the year to only have the car left.

Kids Goal: To continue to teach them that the people around them are much more important than the things around them.
I personally think we are failing at this one. Does anyone have any more suggestions. Our son is continually asking for toys not just from us but from everyone in the family!

Other goals:

  • To read 80 books…… currently Ive read 68 books
  • Make $1000 in Side Hustle Income
  • To eat at home 6 out of 7 days

Setting achievable goals is incredible important. Setting goals that are measurable are also important. As you can see not all of our goals are easily measurable however they are incredible important to us as parents and to our family.

How are your goals going for 2016? Have you been able to mark any off?
