Tips to Planning a Kids Party (1)

This weekend we finally celebrated our son’s 5th birthday with his friends. With 5 parties under my belt I have learned a lot about what to do and what not to do. Today I am sharing my top tips to planning a kids party. A kids’ party is easier to plan than you might think. The key is finding ways to save money. After all, many kids’ parties have lots of children invited and this can quickly cause your costs to skyrocket. The good news is you can use these tips to planning a kids’ party to stick to a budget and host a fun party.

Invite the Entire Class

First things first, It can be devastating for someone to not get invited to a party. Instead of letting your child pick and choose, invite her entire class to the party. This will mean inviting anywhere from 20 to 30 kids, depending on the size of her classroom, but it ensures no one feels left out.

Purchase Decorations at the Dollar Tree

The Dollar Tree is an awesome place to find party decorations. You can get balloons, streamers, and much more. You can also get your napkins, paper plates, and other party supplies. This is a great way to match the supplies to the color scheme of your theme without spending a lot of money.

Plan a Fun Activity

You can find craft party packs at many craft stores. These are perfect for a kids’ party. Find something that matches the age range of the children. You can also create your own craft activity. It just depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it.

Order a Cake from the Grocery Store Bakery

One of the most affordable places to get cakes for a party is your grocery store. Grocery stores have a number of themes to choose from and the prices are wonderful. Be sure to order your cake in advance, especially if you need a really large cake.

Buy Stickers as Party Favors

Many parents don’t like their kids to come home with a bag of candy. Instead, why not give out packs of stickers? You can find a large variety of stickers at the Dollar Tree and you may even find ones that match the theme of the party.

Keep Food Costs Down by Ordering Pizza

Last, but not least, one of the most affordable ways to feed a large crowd is to order pizza. Many places now have $5 pizzas, which means you’ll be able to feed thirty kids for less than forty-dollars. Another great tip is to make a large vat of lemonade or Kool-Aid to serve as a drink. This is much more affordable than buying bottles of soda.

Planning a kids’ party isn’t that hard and it doesn’t have to be expensive. The key is to planning and knowing what your kids and their friends will enjoy! Sometimes it is the simplest items that make them happy!
