Originally from Mississippi, cocktails were a part of my life growing up. I watched as my father created wonderful drinks for my mother. When I finally became of age I started trying fabulous recipes out to make fun vibrant and delicious cocktails. Of course it helps that my husband loves to try new combinations as well and loves to experiment and create new drinks as well!
Cocktail hour is important in the South. It is a time to relax before dinner, talk with family and check in on how the day has gone. At more formal events it is a great time for socializing and catching up with others. I absolutely love cocktail hour at parties! Don’t you?
I also love to entertain guests. Currently we are living with my in-laws so we don’t entertain as much anymore but right before we moved in we had a few friends over and we came up with a fabulous drink for them. It was perfect for the warm day we ended up celebrating (warm days here are rare).
Not only is this Blood Orange Cocktail refreshing it is gorgeous to look at as well.

- Add all the ingredients to your cocktail shaker together with a large handful of ice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.

What are your favorite liquors to utilize in cocktails? Do you like to experiment with your drinks?
